Task 1:Research
What is a 'Single-Camera Production?'
The definition of a Single-Camera Production is that they use only one camera, from framing, angle/shots and movements by using the exact camera.
What are the benefits and limitations of single-camera techniques
The benefits of using Single-Camera Techniques is that many scenes don't have to be filmed in a row, meaning there is more time having better options and ideas for editing the scene. Also it decreases the amount of money you're about to spend for a scene. As, it's much cheaper and more easier to move around, as many expensive cameras takes lots of time to move from each area to film a section.
However, the limitations of using Single-Camera techniques is that it takes long to shoot a scene, as having one camera will be difficult. For example: When editing a scene, however the scene is not correct or suitable as you have to redo the scene again making sure it's more suitable and appropriate. However, that will go towards your downfall as the subject/character might've changed his or hers appearance like having a haircut or a feature they changed. So, you will have to get a different camera which is a multi-camera set-up as it will cover every angle so you don't have to worry about changing or stressing about a scene as the camera will cover everything.

Definition of continuity.
Continuity is defined as a maintenance for a certain scene as its job is to manage the scene properly as for example: making sure the actors/characters are moving their body the correct way like they did on the previous scene. Making sure it's identical to the scene they scratched.
How does it apply to Media?
It applies to Media, as we research and fully try to understand the continuity of movies on how they use different techniques like filming a scene without getting interrupted, making sure they don't interrupt the flow of the movie, where it looks like its been filmed in a row, like beginning to the end.
What impact could multi-camera techniques have on continuity?
The impacts of Multi-Camera Techniques having on continuity is that Multi-Camera techniques is way more easier to use as more disadvantages of using a single camera becomes an advantage. As when your editing a scene and it doesn't come out as expected, you can easily redo it by using the Multi-Camera as it covers most of the scene, but not the single camera. Where the scene is usually the same.

Task 2 : Research
Documentary
In this documentary about "Who were the sea peoples?", they use single-camera techniques to show the raw footage of them exploring the place were these ancient places were first founded and constructed. For example: they use many techniques like an extreme long shot of once a ruined village. They use a birds eye view to give us the full size of the area. (4:30)
Furthermore, they also use a medium close up as it shows that they are using one camera only and it can tell us as the audience that they are giving us the raw footage of them without hardly editing each footage. (12:28)
They also include tracking, which is quite a common technique to have while having a single-camera. Which can feel more realistic to watch. (12:31)
They also use extreme long shot were you can see the person walking and embracing the site, and his other friend is holding the camera, which you can see the camera being a bit fidgety. (12:37)
TV Dramas
In this TV drama, "Designated Survivor" many angles were took for this scene alone. Which one scene were they recorded a 27 second shot of the Capitol, which can indicate that the scene will probably be mainly recorded in a similar area like a white house. (Start of the clip)
Furthermore , another camera techniques were involved were they cover mainly every subject from the main character to the woman and then the little girl. This will signify the interactions between each character instantly, making it more realistic. Meaning more time will be spent each scene making the scenes look edited in a row. (0:30 - 2:08)
So overall, they used multi-camera techniques which is quite logical for this scene.
Youtube Vlogs
In this YouTube vlog, the You tuber: Faze Rug, is quite common to record a vlog for his channel. As his vlogs consists with many edited footage, making his videos more enjoyable and fun to watch.
Nonetheless, Faze Rug uses a single camera technique which is quite common for doing a vlog. (Start-2:10)
Also, Faze Rug uses a lot of mid shots which is in (1:10-2:09)
Music Video
In this music video, from Ed Sheeran called 'Bad Habits', they used Multi-Camera techniques to show different angles of each area of the scene. For example: (0:40) and then at (0:43) it changes as you can see each angle is being filmed, then (0:46) it changes into Medium Close up. Which can indicate the more professional and more film-like scenes. Where it can feel more like a movie than a music video.
The reason why they used Multi-camera techniques is that they can use many techniques like wide shot, Medium close up, mid shot, long shot and worms eye view. This can all be used easily by a Multi-Camera technique.
TV Advertisement
In this TV advert from IKEA, they used Multi-Camera techniques as they show every angle from behind a person, worm eye view, medium close up, Zooming and wide angle instantly. (0:08) (0:15) (1:14) (0:13).
These angles are covered instantly by a multiple cameras. And is quite fast when going from camera technique to another. They do this so the scene can be very fast paced when looking in an audience perspective. Because the scenes are very fast and everything is happening at once. That's why they used Multi-Cameras.
Sports Events
These clips of boxing events are quite similar as they only use a main camera to film the overview of the fight. And they somewhat just film the ring and the boxers inside it. Also they use a long shot technique which is suitable because it's able to see all the people watching the fight and then it zooms closer to the ring removing mostly the audience so they can focus fully on both fighters.
So, overall they use multi-camera techniques as they video each angle of the ring, from the far view and then closer nearer the ring which is (5:05) (5:23)

Task 3: Single Camera Techniques
Tracking
The camera will be following the character/subjects movement.

Tilting
The camera will be stationary however, the camera will move up or down only.

Zooming
The camera lens will zoom in or out on the characters features. But the camera stays stationary at all times.

Panning
The camera moves left or right only. However, the camera stays stationary at a postion.

Steadicam
The camera will be following the subject with someone has a camera attached to them.
Hand-Held
The camera will be quite jerky and fidgety, indicating a sense of realism.

Framing/Angle, Shots
extreme long shot
The camera will focus on the whole location, including the character which is far away.

Medium Long shot
The camera will focus on the characters body, which is from the knees up.
Long shot
The camera will only focus on the characters whole body, from head to toe.

Medium Close up
This camera will focus on the chest to head only.

Mid Shot
The camera will focus on the torso not the whole body. Which it's framed from head to waist.

Big Close Up
This camera will be to the eyes and to the mouth, for more facial expressions.

Close Up
The camera will only focus on the head to the shoulders, making sure more features are sharp and focused.

Birds Eye View
This shot will be framed from above, where you can see most of the area at a high point.

Extreme Close Up
This camera will only focus on the facial expressions on a characters face, making it more realistic.

High/Low Angle
This shot will be taken above, where the subject will be looking up or down.

Worms Eye View
This shot is taken from a low view.

Wide Angle
A shot taken from a distance, making sure two subjects are being shown at the right time.

Canted Angle
Unbalanced angle, where the whole characters face won't be fully inside the shot.

Over the Shoulder
This shot will be taken over a subjects shoulder, whilst having a conversation, making the other subjects body somewhat blurry and the other clear.

Two Shot
This shot is taken at eye level, where they fit both subjects at the same time.

Establishing Shot
A shot taken at an extreme length, which is normally the start of the movie, making sure they introduce the area to the audience.

Point of View
A shot taken from a subjects perspective making the scene more engaging towards the audience.

Task 5: Settings

Aperture: What is Aperture? Aperture can be defined as the opening in a lens through which light passes to enter the camera. It is expressed in f-numbers like f/1.4, f/2, f/2.8 and so on to express the size of the lens opening, which can be controlled through the lens or the camera. - https://photographylife.com

FOCAL LENGTH: The distance between the centre of a lens or curved mirror and its focus. - Dictionary

ISO: The ISO setting is one of three elements used to control exposure; the other two are f/stop and shutter speed. - https://www.nikonusa.com

Focus: When using the camera lens to have a better detailed picture/video.

My Examples
BIG CLOSE UP

This big close up camera technique is shown to be important as it reveals the detailed facial features of a subject.
Extreme long shot (ELS)

Extreme long shot technique is used for the whole background behind a subject. It's involving more of the background than the long shot. Used if you want more of the background.
MEDIum CLOSE UP

The medium close up technique is always between the chest to the head, which is used sometimes for two subjects talking to each other.
Long Shot (LS)

Long shot technique is used for videoing a subject while they are at a far distance away from the camera. Where it's trying to involve more of the background.

LAA: Core Assessment
Ed Sheeran - Shivers, was released on the 10th September 2021 and was instantly a big hit racking over 30 million views.
In this music video, they used single - camera techniques to illustrate the meaning behind the video were they give us the first ever camera shot which is a POV (Point Of View) shot were they show a small café, and they slowly approach it indicating the sense of realism of the scene.(0:06) Furthermore, they also used a hand-held camera shot to further the experience of being more realistic as they move the camera up and down indicating that they want you to pretend that you're in this scene.(0:06) To make this type of movement for this scene, is using quite a high aperture and approximately a 135mm Focalength. Which makes the experience more better as they want the scene to be similar as Ed Sheeran's music videos are normally quite fidgety and somewhat more of a short film to watch. Nonetheless, they used a small panning shot to pan from Ed Sheeran to the actress quickly.(0:08) Signifying, that he isn't the only one who is acting or in this video, as they want to show the audience that this lady will appear more frequently. Furthermore, they use another camera shot which is a Big Close Up Shot (BCU) were they have two of the main subjects fully focused,(0:10) with an aperture of approximately 2.2 which connotes the importance of them being there and it shows the tension between them and the facial expressions being presented between them. Also they use a medium close up for both characters as they want to show the whole background around them.(0:17) Furthermore, they use a Worms Eye View shot on when Ed Sheeran was dancing inside a crystal (0:49) this signifies that it shows the passion and excitement Ed Sheehan is expressing. Making the scene quite weird but groovy. And which makes sense as normally a lot of genres like 90s hip hop consists with low angles and subjects looking down. Moreover, the directors of this scene use a wide angle shot were they frame approximately 7 people in the scene alone.(0:56) As it shows the environment the subject is in. And how they are showing the activeness of everyone which makes the scene more alive and not boring, were the camera zooms closer (1:00) to Ed Sheeran revealing the expression being presented showing us the progression for his character. As well, the camera is quite fidgety when Ed Sheeran was sitting in a corner and when Ed moved his arm, the camera also zoomed in quickly signifying a more fast paced motion.(1:05) At one scene, it starts to become more faster and faster which shows us the different angles being presented as they use a wide shot and then a medium close up, and then a close up.(1:09 - 1:15) This can indicate a sense of madness as Ed is getting more frustrated every minute as they use many angles to show the expression of his face, this is used mostly on horror movies as it shows a sense of paranoia and isolation which makes you crazier and crazier. For this to happen they will need to use approximately a 1/500 Shutter speed and probably a 28m focalength to bring out the 'craziness' being afflicted upon him. To identify if they are using a single camera technique is that in one scene they are in a Mortuary were Ed was inside a small rectangular box were he is eventually pulled out of this small space. Were also they use an ISO of approx 6400, as they are trying to balance out two lights which were blue and light yellow, making the scene more focused and less blurry. They used a tracking shot, were the camera slowly follows the subjects body being moved were it goes from inside the box and slowly going to the outside were the lady is.(1:18-1:24) Furthermore, they use a medium long shot. As they wanted the background to be seen fully as it gives off a sense of excitement, were the lights/chandeliers were becoming sparkly and brighter which is brought out from both characters.(1:40) You can tell this is a single camera technique is that when Ed reached in for a hug, you could see the camera changing when Ed got zapped.(1:47) This tells us that they are using a single camera were they film Ed and the lady hugging and then cuts to Ed getting pushed by lightning and the lady acting shocked. Nonetheless, they continue to have the camera being held as you can see the camera being more wobbly and not stationary as when Ed Sheeran took his pants of the camera quickly jerks up (2:11) and then when the lady started to remove her clothes the camera zooms in and out quickly (2:19) which connotes that they want to make this scene more quick and somewhat of a video filmed by a person were, they have a quite fast paced movement when they are dancing as the camera quickly starts to turn from left to right to each subject.(2:26-2:27) Last of all, they used an aperture of 18 at the very last scene were they focus right on the middle were they blur most of the sides which signifies that this scene feels like it's being filmed while it's raining and how it can easily get fogged up around the lens.(3:12-3:17)
The Witcher Season 1, which was released on Netflix as it was instantly a big hit regarding the huge fan base by the video game.
In this TV Drama, they use a variety of single camera-techniques which are shown throughout this scene. One camera technique used is the panning shot, which was useful as it uncovers the area being shown for this scene. As it shows more of the background (Forest). Furthermore, they continue to use another camera shot which is a Medium Close Up Shot (MCUS). As it signifies the main person who is talking right now as they use an aperture of 18 to show the audience who is talking. Nonetheless, they continue to use an aperture of 3.5 to signify the emotions being presented on Henry's face. (The Witcher) However, the camera starts to get blurry in the scene when someone is dying then starts to get more focused as it symbolises the sad moment for this character to feel. They use this type of effect for romance/action as it gives more of a heart warming connection between two characters.Furthermore, they then instantly switches back to Henry as it connotes the scene was only a flashback of his past. Furthermore, they used an aperture of approximately 2.2, giving the features of Henry more focused and makes his character more seriousness, as they blur out most of the background and only focused fully on his face were the NVC, shows us that Henry is fully prepared to fight. Nonetheless, they use another camera technique which is Tracking Shot which is able to follow the characters movement as they use this for a more silent and eerie moment, as they follow Henry's movement as he continues to follow a path inside a forest. They do this for more suspense towards the audience as it gives out a mysterious vibe, they have to do this as normally more horror/thriller movies consists with many of tracking shots as it signifies the NVC of a character, showing us if he/she is scared, as it shows someones true colours and how they act when faced with danger. In addition they mix two shots together which is the Tracking Shot and the Tilting Shot, as both camera shots are used for horror, as it shows us the pace of the character and the expression the character is making, giving it a more realistic feeling. Then they use a close up shot were they present Henry's face and use an aperture of approximately 11 as the directors want to show the full expression being shown right now and they use somewhat of a steadicam as when they focus on Henry's face the camera starts to float and become somewhat unsteady, this can signify the camera being the heart of Henry as it starts to pump like a heart which can signify the eeriness being shown. The directors continue to use an aperture of 5.6 as they show both the girls face and then switches to Henry's face showing the shock and relief between these two characters.
"The Switch" which is featured by legendary footballer : Cristiano Ronaldo, which shows us the story line of a collision between him and a teenager as they magically switch lives as they uncover what really happened to them.
So, in this Sports Advertisement they use a variety of camera techniques. As for the first technique they use a long shot were they use this to show the crowd in the stadium creating a more high stakes match up. As normally they use this for sports movies like Rocky, as it shows more of an exciting moment for the movie, as it gives the scene more realism and pace. Signifying the importance and popularity of football alone. In addition they use another camera technique which were Medium Close Up Shot, signifying the pain both characters are going through, as the directors used a diegetic sound to express how hard the collision was between them. As they used a ringing sound which can indicate the 10 second concussion they are having right now, which sets off the story. Furthermore, they continue to use a lot of movement as it feels like a handheld camera is being used as you can see the camera is moving exactly the same speed as the player making the scene more realistic and more fast paced and also gives more fluidity for the scene. In addition they use another camera technique which is a Big Close Up (BCU), also they use an aperture of approximately 3.5, which connotes the facial expression being presented as they use both aperture and camera angles to show who is going to be part of this storyline too. Furthermore, they use another shot which is an Over the Shoulder shot as they use this for two things which is the person who is talking and the other characters expressions, making the scene more realistic and comedic. The directors also use an aperture of 4.5 which they focus on the boys face were his chilling in the park as it shows the ordinary life of living in this area, were they focus on the boy then suddenly switched to focusing on the people who is playing football this is called Pull Focus. Which can signify that this place is active. Indicating the sense of normality. They also use an aperture of approximately 2.2 on the main character, which can signify that this character is experiencing something way different. Another camera technique they use is tracking as it's quite common for tracking to be used for a sports adverts as it symbolizes the quickness and makes the scene more impactful. Nonetheless, they use a low angle shot which is used for the intensity of the game making the scene more memorable as it shows that this game is important for his team. Furthermore, they use many zoom ins and outs as when the ball is moving they zoom in on the characters face showing us the seriousness and expression when running with the ball, and then zooms out when the ball is in the back of the net showing the player and the audience celebrating which gives the scene more rapid timing.
